Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Ottawa Black Coalition (OBC). As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in building a more inclusive and just city by advancing the rights, voices, and wellbeing of Black communities in Ottawa.

  • Empower Change: Help dismantle systemic barriers and amplify Black voices.
  • Grow and Connect: Build leadership skills and collaborate with changemakers.
  • Strengthen Community: Join a dedicated network working toward racial equity and justice.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • English required; French is an asset.
  • Additional languages commonly spoken in African and Caribbean communities (e.g., Swahili, Somali, Amharic, Tigrinya, Yoruba, Igbo, Arabic, Lingala, Haitian Creole) are highly valued.
  • Volunteers will receive role-specific orientation and an introduction to OBC’s mission and anti-racism framework.
  • Some roles may require a Police Records Check.

By becoming a member of the Ottawa Black Coalition (OBC), you are joining a united network committed to advancing the wellbeing, leadership, and rights of Black communities in Ottawa. Membership is open to individuals and organizations who share our vision and values.

Membership is free. All members are expected to align with OBC’s values and anti-racism principles.
